Cinosam Club Approved Minutes: August 5, 2017

Meeting called to order at 9:00AM by President Mark McDonald.

Attended by Board Members:  Mark McDonald, Kelly Spratt, Tim Vescio, Marc Kmecik, Ginny Wendt, Richard Dillman, Julie Carroll, Mark Walters, Steve Bredeson and Kathy Becker.

Board Members not in Attendance: John Klauk, Ron McKitterick, and Tom Whitehead

Minutes:  from the July 1, 2017 meeting were read by Kathy Becker. Motion to approve by Tim Vescio, second by Steve Bredeson.

Treasurer’s Report:  Kelly Spratt reported the July YTD Actual to Budget Financial Report. Dues were collected from 120 members. Revenue is $28,685.13 and expenses are $21,101.59. Motion to approve by Tim Vescio, second by Ginny Wendt.

Committee Reports:

SAC Jarrett Leas was not in attendance.

CLARC Diane Dillman reported our 10-year grant with the DNR is over. The hillsides have been restored with native grasses and bushes. Shorelines, especially on lot #4 still need work. Tom Whitehead and Boots restored the bulletin board after storm damage. The stairs have been replaced on lot #4. A work list is posted on the bulletin board. She thanked all the volunteers for their work.

Unfinished Business

  • -Thank you to Steve Bredeson for installation of the swim dock.
  • -$229.13 in donations was collected at the 4th of July celebration for the purchase of more picnic tables and $306 was collected to defer food costs.
  • -Steve Bredeson replaced the Cinosam sign by the highway.

New Business

  • The swim dock will be reconfigured in a T shape.
  • Tim Vescio motioned that a ladder for the swim dock be purchased in the amount of up to $350. Motion was seconded by Richard Dillman and carried. Steve Bredeson will research pricing and purchase.
  • Maria Fedorzuk reported that the plaques for the eagle are done. They will be placed under Plexiglas.
  • Maria Fedorzuk has forms available if any neighbors are interested in petitioning for road maintenance.
  • Maria Fedorzuk presented the board with the idea of holding a Cinosam auction. Residents would offer items for auction and the proceeds would go to the Club for park maintenance. A committee was formed and more information will be available on the website.
  • Discussion on Cataract Street that borders our property to the north.  It is a public minimum maintenance road that is 33ft wide and continues all the way to Gull Lake waters edge.
  • Ginny Wendt and Mark Walters presented a plan for installation of steps on lots #2 & #3. Estimated cost is $5,400. A motion to accept the bid of $5,400 for work on steps on lots #2 & #3 at $5,400 with work to commence immediately was made by Kelly Spratt. Motion was seconded by Marc Kmecik and carried.
  • The Board discussed the erosion problem on lot #4. Ed Kohler motioned the Board be given authority to take action regarding the loss of shoreline on lot #4 and incur expenses within reason. Motion seconded by Richard Dillman and carried. -Boots noted that the trees at the main park and Round Lake have been mulched. He also will install sand 6 inches deep on 50 feet of shoreline at the main park for a cost of $650. The work will be done this week.
  • Steve Bredeson will purchase and install an enclosure for notices on the Cinosam sign at the highway. Estimated cost is $150.

  • Secretary – Julie Carroll
  • Board Members – Jenna Riley, Verna Thompson, Patty Rivard and Kelly Spratt. Verna and Patty were tied in votes. At the next meeting, they will flip a coin to determine who will get the 2-year term.

Announcements

  • Thank you volunteers this past year: Ladies Club flowers, John Fitch’s donation for repair of flag pole in main park and Boots repair of flagpole, Terry Slack dock benches, Bredeson’s and Klauck’s sign work, rock garden in the park, 4th of July volunteers, past board members who are leaving, Von Mauer’s mowing/park cleanup, Boots and Maria Fedorzuk road improvement efforts, Kane’s and Joey’s Octoberfest planning and all members who have generously shared their time and talents.
  • Octoberfest is scheduled for Saturday, September 30.
