Cinosam Parks Update

img956779Even more ways to communicate!! The Gull Lake Bulletin Board has been repaired and is ready for Cinosam postings thanks to Boots and Mark McDonald. Also, new solar lights have been installed on the gate at the park entrance so we can stroll down to the park for some star gazing.

The painting of the round lake fence is complete, the dirt is spread, and we will cover the seed with straw this morning if anyone wants to help. Thanks to Boots, Barb Simon, Jarrett Leas, Waydeen Baribeau, Kathy Becker, Julie Carroll, Ken Kunze, and to Gary Zurn for going above and beyond by painting both the fence AND the Round Lake neighbor’s bird houses. How is that for fostering good Cinosam relationships?

Boats & Docks Update – All Cinosam Boats off by October 7th

Trevor would like all Cinosam boats off the lifts and out of the water by October 7th.  He will be in to do our dock work shortly after that, with weather always being a factor in his schedule.

This year, Jarrett will be tagging each boat lift with a simple number tag prior to removal in October.  The tag will have only a printed number on it, identifying which slip the lift belongs in, and this number will also correlate to a master Cinosam Club diagram he will keep of our boat slips.  On this diagram, he will have boat owners name and contact info.  He asks that the tags be left attached to each lift, or if the owner prefers it moved to another location on the lift, that is fine.  The tags will be a light plastic, fasted with a zip tie and should not cause any damage from wind or corrosion.

An updated Boat Slip Waiting List will also be posted on the website under Boats and Docks.

Great Improvements to Round Lake Park!

20160916_134711Round Lake Park is looking good.  If you haven’t had a chance to see it go on over, take a look around, and enjoy the beautifully updated surroundings.

There are new canoe racks, flower plantings, a newly mended fence, black dirt was delivered, leveled and seed was planted.  There is also a great group of Cinosam members that are keeping the flowers watered, the lawn mowed and the area picked up.  Special thanks to all of the volunteers:

  • Gary Zurn
  • Barb Simon
  • Tom Whitehead
  • Becky Maddox
  • Adam Cox
  • Ginny Wendt
  • Connie Krivich

Eagle Rises from Cinosam Member Contributions

IMG9514921The story of the eagle is a heartfelt and personal one to Cinosam residents Maria Fedorczuk-Vescio and Phil Johnson.  The damage and loss of trees and wildlife habitat from the July 2015 storm was devastating.  One such lost tree on Cinosam’s Lot 3 was home to a majestic eagle.

Maria, a neighbor of the eagle, looked at the downed tree, and the eagle now circling overhead, and had an idea.  She approached Phil regarding some kind of monument made from the beautiful 80+ year-old tree.  Phil and Maria contacted local carver Ben Semler and together with direction from Boots Johnson, they developed the concept of a winged eagle on top of the original pine.  Standing at the top of the hill overlooking the Cinosam beach, the carving is truly inspirational and a symbol of our resilience and ability to overcome obstacles.  The eagle has found another nearby home and we are left with our Cinosam Eagle.

The Cinosam Eagle has been entirely funded by donations from Cinosam members.  Maria Fedorczuk-Vescio and Tim Vescio have been coordinating contributions and names for a commemorative plaque to be placed near the eagle.  The following contributor names will be listed on the plaque as shown below.  If you would like to make changes to the list or if you would like to contribute, please contact Maria or Tim.  Thank you to Maria, Phil, Boots, Ben and all of the contributors for making this tribute possible.
